'Knots At Work" 工作中的繩結   -Jeff Jepson

"In the beginning, there was rope. But the rope lacked form and function. Then Man said "Let us create knots so we can use the rope and put it to work." And Man saw that the knots he had created were very good.
-
"Whenever you tie a knot, you become a creator of one of the oldest tools known to humankind. Unfortunately, most people today will never know just how "good" knots are. Their lives, thanks to "progress", have incrementally drifted away from tasks and trades that require their use.
-
"There is however, a large clan of rugged individuals who still utilize knots with repeated regularity in their work and recreational pursuits. Cavers, sailors, scouts, surgeons, fishermen, firefighters, river runners, rope rescue technicians, rock climbers, mountain climbers, event riggers, and even window cleaners all use knots to varying degrees. But I venture to say that no one ties knots more frequently, and of such variety, than those who work in the tree care profession."
