 木質塊莖 (Lignotubers)

於1924年由澳大利亞植物學家Leslie R. Kerr.創造出「木質塊莖」這個字。

木質塊莖是根部腫大的木質部，裡面儲存大量澱粉與芽體。

當森林火災發生，這些在地下的木質塊莖躲過火災後，可快速發芽重生。

有木質塊莖的植物包括澳大利亞的許多物種如：邊緣桉(Jarrah)、短葉桉( Eucalyptus brevifolia ) 、Eucalyptus ficifolia (紅花膠)、Banksia 。
