 《築山庭院造傳》上中兩篇北篇村援琴域,下(上中下)由秋里籬庭島籬笆。中·安芸國[1]嚴島之景缽山水水者(二),也。共同主人心之之作庭亦作庭亦然。則向若主人無所好,則是司職,相貌名勝作,中綴飾不可自作庭,不類名勝者失當也。慕其景而不知其作法,妄為之者,怠矣。作庭忌畫蛇添足。徒興庭造園以覆坪地者,矯作謬誤。如以濃彩作水墨畫,素人與葉公為也。作庭唯圖遊心倦耳,施者勿信之流口傳秘法,謬謬矣。·橋根樹橋根樹,乃植於橋頭,蔓其枝以投影者也。無論類別,皆是橋根樹。·障澗樹障澗樹植於瀧口池側,正臨飛澗泉口處。有無飛澗之落水,明滅臨照之日光,幽深一堂。無論什麼類別,冬樹(落葉樹)別論。·鄰庵樹越嶺作停歇室[3]、峠茶屋[4]、野廬等庵室。鄰庵植樹以營蔭蔭。樹無論類別,最佳為松,栗·柿等亦處處。·出牆高木植出牆之高(見越[5]樹),應使樹木三分鐘七分在外,呈張放高高之勢。首選松樹。主軸(橡樹)·樅(冷杉)·栂(鐵雲衫) )·檜(羅漢松)亦為佳選。·池畔樹池畔樹木,應亦枝居臨池面,炎日觀之心生涼意也。又可虛擬望月而修其枝,留賞月之狹。作庭設景,非唯寫眼前此時景,寫推擬彼時景也。樹無論類別,皆可。·植樹總括植木不可先滿植而後治病,須先安石以留道,乃謀草木。幽趣之景,所憑無所見所聞小煩惱。飛石[6]趣設,鄉間橋水;山麓谷,空谷冥幽幽寂。古來雅客(數寄者[7])皆取天成勝景作庭園大觀,成就佳作。千道安[8]以舊宅之斷壁殘垣為庭園徑道,別有幽情[9]。庭院坪高木林立則當伐之另植,大石零則當先謀立石。欲借遠景則修整長,近高遠低樹,次植植。植樹栽竹以三一五二之序,疏密有度。書云:木竹忌為三。三木則為三金輪[10],煞矣。閱之者或不以為意,不忌諱,然古訓悠久,不可不惶恐。之物並立。蓋“擬”與“睨”音同耳。“睨”者,(日語)原意為有一物,二物必相爭。此同三金輪之忌也。若木竹三兩叢疊,集成一林,則不忌二三之禍也。此乃錯覺植法也。若三兩排列,散落疏離,則觀之呆如素柱,無甚趣也。故並植三木,則依此圖。並植二木,則依此圖。植五木則依此圖。千利休植木近高遠低,由近及遠;織部植木(古田織部,千利休的弟子)近低遠高,由遠及近,其妙無窮。後人可依圖做樣,得悟植植之道也。有雜談雲:古田織部乃於徑側植樅(冷杉)第一人;片桐石州(江戶時代茶道家)乃種竹第一人;桑山左近(安土桃山木時代的武士、茶道家)乃育南天竹第一人。未知真假,當趣聞聽之。·掘樹掘樹須細察其枝葉長勢,於其繁茂處土開,所遇樹根大小,悉斷之。而後於葉稀處開掘。須知樹木根葉相應,枝葉稀處樹根亦稀,盛處根繁。經常次性移植之木則無此,故掘時無此方向。掘樹須出六分土,留四分土下,向亦開掘處倒之,則四分根得留濕泥。移植可速生。週掘(圍繞樹根掘土,挖出樹木)之時,忌心浮氣躁,顛搖樹幹。搖樹傷其根,掘者須慎之。·捆樹根鮑卷者,以繩環數週以捆束也。樹根以缽卷法捆束。手助卷者,以繩交錯數週以捆束也,附土根鬚以手助卷縛之,網縛者,將繩縱橫追擊,作網狀以縛之。以上作法作法。以上作法。 ,須知。·植樹方法先掘一樹穴,居住其中,於此時粗定根則樹根。不可強扭,壞其缽卷。一人以尖棍插土根中,一人注水,沿棍而下,注入樹。棍端勿缽卷,誤壞根鬚。植木時,不可施肥。以棍空其穴,引水穴中,使根缽以下皆得容靜,方填土固定。待水滲透,浮土踏實,鋸缽卷之繩,充之以新土。固。土時不可施水,借器具固之。植珍木時,則於穴底充荒麥(未脫殼的小麥),因樹之大小,填3.6ℓ(2升)、5.4ℓ(3升)、9ℓ(5升)不等。種植松梅者,約十日則須施肥。肥土角川[11]。角川制法:煎餅團,收集汁水,及涼,淺挖松樹根土,中次少施之。松木只可施肥餅,此肥於松木百利無一害,餘肥則或有害。·修樹形修松木,以鐮割、疏剪、指摘、刈葉(除葉)之序為之。鐮割者,以鐮疏透松冠,鋸其過密枝幹也。疏剪者,以除其細枝,透漏光影也。指摘者,以手拈去枯葉,定其形也。球剪者,以竹輪作圈狀,圍松樹,所生枝葉合抱球成。仙人臥者[12]式等。則若樹何形,步皆同。 ,以竹壓伏小枝,令其橫生,則樹形倒臥也。光琳式者,仿尾形光琳所繪松樹而為之也。
