The more I use Dual Main systems, the more I like them. Here is an example of a Dual Main English Reeve - in essence, just duplicating one system to provide simple yet complete redundancy. The only place the systems overlap is at the load because two single pulley just don't sit next to each other nicely.
Sure it needs 6 single pulleys however I find these are generally far more readily available from team members than a big Kootenay type carriage.
