澳洲有300多種脊椎動物需要住在巨型桉樹樹洞，這類「摩天大樓樹」，需要生長190年才會蓋好，形成樹洞讓生物棲息，很多稀有的動物住在樹上，但隨著開發破壞，這類問題愈來愈重視。
